Acrylic Sealant / Water-Based High-Elasticity Sealant

Water-based high-elasticity sealant is an environmentally friendly elastic sealing material with the following properties, applications, curing time, and precautions:

I. Properties

  1. Environmentally Friendly & Non-Toxic: Uses water as the dispersion medium, free of organic solvents, low VOC, and no irritating odor

  2. High Elasticity: Forms a flexible film after curing, capable of withstanding significant movement (typically ≥300% elongation rate), adapting to joint deformation

  3. Strong Weather Resistance: Resistant to UV rays, high and low temperatures (-40°C to 90°C), and aging; suitable for outdoor environments

  4. Excellent Adhesion: Strong bonding to various substrates such as concrete, metal, glass, and wood

  5. Waterproof & Mold Resistant: Excellent anti-leakage performance; some products include mildew inhibitors, making them suitable for humid environments

  6. Paintability: The cured surface can be painted or coated

II. Main Applications

  1. Construction Field:

    • Sealing joints around doors/windows, curtain wall sealing, expansion joint filling

    • Waterproof sealing for damp areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and basements

  2. Home Decoration & Repair:

    • Sealing around pipes, filling tile gaps, repairing roof cracks

  3. Other Scenarios:

    • Industrial uses such as automotive interior sealing, HVAC duct joints

III. Curing Time

  • Surface Dry: Approximately 30-60 minutes (at 25°C, 50% humidity)

  • Tack-Free / Through Dry: 24-48 hours for full cure (when thickness ≤ 3mm)

  • Complete Cure: May take 3-7 days for deep layers or thicker applications

  • Note: Low temperatures or high humidity can slow curing. Recommended application temperature is 5°C to 35°C

IV. Precautions

  1. Substrate Preparation:

    • Clean surfaces thoroughly, removing oil, dust, and loose particles; ensure they are dry

    • For porous substrates (e.g., concrete), applying a primer is recommended to enhance adhesion

  2. Application Conditions:

    • Avoid application during rain or snow; protect uncured sealant from water exposure

    • In hot weather, spraying a fine water mist can prevent surface cracking

  3. Application Guidelines:

    • Recommended joint depth is 5-10mm; use backer rod for deeper joints

    • Smooth the bead with a putty knife after application; clean tools promptly with water

  4. Safety & Storage:

    • In case of skin contact, rinse immediately with water; seek medical attention if it gets into the eyes

    • Store in a cool, dry place at 5°C to 30°C; protect from freezing. Typical shelf life is 12 months

V. Common Issues & Solutions

  • Slow Curing: Check ambient temperature and humidity; ensure adequate ventilation

  • Poor Adhesion: Verify substrate compatibility; use a specialized primer if necessary
